AutohausAZ, a large Internet-based auto parts retailer distributing OEM parts worldwide, today announced its adding of a wide range of automotive diagnostic tools and OE-quality car care products to its already comprehensive online parts catalog. Just in time for holiday shopping, these new product lines provide great gift ideas for avid DIYers and for people who truly care about keeping their car looking great and protecting them against the elements.
New and returning customers to AutohausAZ.com, will find a larger selection of automotive diagnostic tools, including scan/reset tools that read the same diagnostic codes dealerships and technicians rely on to troubleshoot potential repair issues. Scan/reset tools, including tools for engine, airbag, oil service and inspection resets don’t just benefit DIYers.
They benefit everyone who has ever taken their car in for service when the “Check Engine” or “Service Engine Soon” light comes on. Now, instead of driving vehicles to the dealership or a local technician, consumers can get an accurate diagnosis at home and, depending on their capabilities, can either do the repair at home or confirm what their dealer or technician claims needs to be fixed. Either way, they save money.

The Lexol 1015 Leather Conditioner Spray
is a unique emulsion that feeds leather to keep it soft and supple while maintaining strength and durability. Regular use will maintain leather in top condition and not leave the surface slick or greasy, unlike other all purpose products.
Work into the leather with a clean, soft, 100% cotton cloth or Lexol Applicator Sponge; allow the conditioner to be fully absorbed (15-20 minutes) and then buff off the excess with another soft, clean, 100% cotton cloth. Use 4-5 times a year to keep your leather in top condition. You do not have to clean the leather every time you condition, but you must condition every time you clean it. Do not use on suede.
Price: $8.99

For millions of car owners, the answer to feeling better about their current vehicle is to make it look and run better. Not everyone can afford a new car, and the Cash for Clunkers program only worked for a small minority of vehicle owners. A brand new site called Auto Grill Craft can help dress up an older vehicle and give it back that new look.
A car expresses different aspects of its driver’s personality. By making it look great with a new grill or grill guards from Auto GrillCraft it makes the owner feel better and raises the value of the vehicle.
Dennis Dater of Exotic Motor Sports has recently opened an eCommerce web site called Auto Grill Craft Grilles to help owners of various vehicle brands and models the opportunity to improve the looks of their car, trucks and SUVs.
This site offers the complete line of Grillcraft products. You can choose from three different styles of Grillcraft grills, the MX, SW and BG grilles.
The MX style grille is made from steel mesh in an exclusive pattern. It is then zinc plated and finally covered with a three stage baked on powder coating. Easy to install, long lasting and great looking.
For a “Billet Grill”, take a look at the BG style. The “Billet” looks consists of a series of bars, sometimes horizontal and sometimes vertical placed in the grille area of the vehicle. This is made from 6061 T6 Aluminum. These grilles have a high-luster polished front face with a black baked on powder coating finished back ground.
The SW style grille is made from T304 Stainless Steel woven mesh using Grillcraft’s exclusive micro frame design. Then Electrol Polished to a high luster. They are guaranteed never to rust, and represent the top of the line. This is one of the finest grilles produced anywhere.

Visteon Corporation, a leading supplier of a full range of cockpit electronics products for vehicles, has developed a second-generation pulse count system for automotive heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) controls. The new system provides a significant reduction in wiring complexity and weight, achieving up to a 25 percent system cost savings (based on system control only) compared with conventional HVAC control solutions.
In Visteon’s system, the position of the actuator in the HVAC system is determined by reading pulses from the motor. The system uses Visteon’s patented climate control algorithms to control the direct current (DC) motor actuators via the power and ground wires only, eliminating the traditional feedback wire harness and position sensors.
The pulse count control system enables vehicle manufacturers to use simpler, lower cost non-feedback DC motor actuators. System reliability is improved by using fewer connections and deleting the position sensors in the HVAC actuators.
Visteon used its system expertise to develop an Application Specific Integrated Chip (ASIC) with an embedded inductor-based sense element. The microprocessor, with Visteon proprietary software, monitors and filters the current/voltage fluctuations inherent within permanent magnet DC motors to determine the position of the motor and then employs pulse counts to control the position of HVAC doors.
The accurate sensing, filtering and adjustments of the pulses provide robust overall HVAC system performance. The system is self-calibrating and monitors key operating parameters to maintain optimal performance during its life. It is compatible with a range of actuator solutions and hardware configurations for a cost-efficient solution.
Visteon’s technical centers in China and in India worked on implementing this first program application of the second generation of Visteon’s pulse count technology, which is scheduled for commercialization in mid-2010. Visteon launched its first-generation pulse count HVAC control system on the Chrysler Pacifica in 2006.

An auto insurance policy may be defined as an agreement between you and your insurance company. You purchase an auto insurance policy and pay the required premiums and in turn, your insurance company promises to pay for financial losses in the event of a car accident. It is advisable that you buy adequate auto (car) insurance policy so that you get right amount of coverage when required.
It is not always your fault if you meet up with a car accident. However, you will have to file a claim to get the insurance coverage. There are certain steps involved in filing a claim. The steps are discussed below.
- Call police – In the event of an accident, you should at first check whether or not anyone needs medical attention. You should call the police as you need the police report for filing claim.
- Exchange information – Exchange contact information and license plate numbers with the other parties involved in the accident.
- Look for witnesses – It is really important to look for witnesses who’ll be willing to describe the incident if necessary; collect their contact information as well.
- Call your insurance company – You should get in touch with your insurance company as soon as possible.
- Other party is guilty – If the other party is at fault, then you should inform his/her insurance company that you’re filing a claim through your provider and mention that you seek reimbursement for costs that your company will not bear.
- Receive other company’s call – You may get a phone call from other insurance company, who’ll want to know your version of events that caused the accident.
- Estimate of coverage – An adjuster checks your vehicle to make an estimate of your insurance coverage; on the basis of which your insurance company either pays the amount that you require for the repair work or pay your car’s depreciated value if it is beyond repair.
If you think that the damage settlement is too low in comparison to what you need either for the repair work or to buy a new vehicle, then you can dispute it by filling out a form of arbitration. You may have to file a lawsuit if necessary.

Here is our second set of tips for you and your vehicle this rainy season. We really need to be careful when the road is wet and knowing these might just be helpful to let you know what to do in these situations.
Wet roads and Brakes
Please make sure that your brake pads (for disc brakes) and brake shoe (for drum brakes) are still in good shape. Also check your brake fluid and make sure that it is at the maximum level. Have your mechanic check this regularly so you can be sure that your vehicle would stop when it needs to.
Check on your wheels as well. Good brakes can only perform well if you have good tires. Make sure that your tires still has groves that would still be able to grip the road. Otherwise, you will just slide and might probably hit something or another vehicle.
When your vehicle has just passed a flooded area, do not accelerate right away and be very gentle on the gas pedal. Your brakes have been soaked in water and might not work properly since it is wet. You have two approaches to solve this problem. You can lightly press on the gas pedal and step on the brakes simultaneously (easier for automatic transmission vehicles) until you feel that your brakes have regained its stopping power or you can choose to let the vehicle move slowly a few meters and try double or triple pumping the brakes and continue repeating this step until your brakes have been restored. Please do take note that disc brakes dry faster than drum brakes so try to get a feel first if your brakes are working fine before you decide to speed up again.
Rains tend to make puddles on the road. You can find these long puddles on uneven roads or along the side or on the shoulder of the road. You also have to be alert not to drive over these puddles when you are speeding. Driving over them at high speed might make your car hydroplane causing you to lose control of your vehicle. When it’s raining, try to drive moderately slow and always be careful and alert. A few minutes late is a lot better than meeting an accident on the road.

Driving during the rainy season may pose some problems for you if you are not careful and your vehicle is not ready for the wet weather. Here are some tips on how you can have your vehicle ready and some driving tips as well to help keep you out of danger when it is raining. Check out these series of tips which may help prepare you during these conditions.
Windshield and Wipers
To be able to drive well, you should be able to see the road and your surroundings. Make sure that your windshield wipers are working well and can wipe off the rain water as it hits your windshield. The summer heat can cause it to wear out and possibly crack so by the time the rainy season comes, the rubber on your wipers are already useless, just spreading the rain water all over your windshield and not really wiping it off. Replace old wipers with new ones that you can purchase from most car accessories shop. Just make sure you get the right lengths for your wipers. Some wiper pairs may not have the same length. Check the size of your wipers before you make any purchase. Also, there are two types of connections, a screw type and a clip type. Make sure you get the ones that are applicable to your vehicle. Also make sure that your windshield washer is working fine and has a good amount of water and mild detergent mixture just to help your wipers wipe the dirt off your windshield.
When it rains, your vehicle’s air conditioner tends to be a lot cooler, thus, creating a mist on your door glass and back glass, making it hard for you to see your sides and your rear. You can pull up to a covered area or a gas station temporarily, roll down your door windows and roll them up again to clear the mist on the sides. If your vehicle came with a built-in defogger, then all you have to do is push on the defogger switch and wait for the back glass to clear and you’re ready to roll again. But if you don’t have a defogger, using the palm of your hands to wipe the back glass and the door glass might clear it temporarily but the mist will be back again after a short while. You need to have a clean piece of cloth to wipe off the mist on your door glass and back glass then lower the temp of your air conditioner and make the louvers face downward to help prevent the mist from coming back. It will be a much clearer view for you after doing this making it a lot easier to drive.
That’s it for now. More tips for the rainy season next time…
