Pittsburgh Drivers Can Get Winter Driving Training at MiNI of Pittsburgh Sponsored Event in February

Posted by: Auto Buff  /  Category: Car News

Pittsburgh, PA, January 27, 2012 –(PR.com)– MINI of Pittsburgh is proud to announce that they are sponsoring the Winter Driving Refresher education event on February 12 at BeaveRun, put on especially for the PittStop MINI Club. The driving education event will help teach drivers how to improve their driving skills in slick conditions.

The event will be held on February 12 from 8am-3pm at the BeaveRun MotorSports Complex in Wampum, PA. The event gives drivers the opportunity to learn driving in slick and extreme winter weather in a safe and controlled environment rather than on public roads. No reason to go to your local public parking lot and worry about getting caught spinning around in the snow!

The cost to attend is a mere $5 for primary drivers and $5 for any co-drivers. The cost of the event includes all of the training and fun driving as well as a Subway Box Lunch. The event will include classroom instruction by instructors detailing winter driving techniques, equipment to use, and even winter survival skills. Instructors will be in driver’s vehicles giving one-on-one instruction as owners travel through the slalom, skidpad braking, and coned-autocross courses.

Drivers will receive education on how stability control and anti-lock brakes work, when to enable Traction Control and when to shut it off, and how to integrate these components into driving in the wet conditions.

All MINI and non-MINI vehicles are welcome to attend the event. Drivers must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance to participate. The event will be a go no matter what conditions are present on the day, snow, rain, sleet, or a sunny and beautiful February day. The course can be tuned to imitate slick conditions so weather is not an issue.

MINI of Pittsburgh is honored to sponsor the event and be a part of a great training event. To register for the event, visit www.pittstopmini.org. Broad Social Support for Paid Parking

PR Newswire — January 31, 2012

MAASTRICHT, Netherlands, January 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ –

A recent Q-Park customer survey, conducted in a large number of Western European parking facilities, shows that 86% of the car parking customers understand the social necessity for paid parking.

This customer survey among 2,142 clients in ten countries and in 38 West European Q-Park parking facilities shows the attitudes towards paid parking and that people understand which urban challenges are solved in this way. We find the survey results extremely positive since they confirm the social role of Q-Park.

Stimulating sustainable mobility is one of the five strategic objectives of the Q-Park Corporate Social Responsibility policy. This is a requirement for a sustainable, economic and environmental development. In order to achieve balanced growth, Q-Park employs an integrated mobility policy so that the city centre parking requirements of visitors, residents and commuters are managed in an optimal way.

- 74% are aware that regulated and paid parking contributes to this policy. – 76% are aware that this contributes to the accessibility and availability of parking facilities and parking places. – 66% are aware that this contributes to the stimulation of parking in the vicinity of public transport.

By aligning the parking tariffs to the demand for parking and by directing vehicles searching for parking to the available parking places, 86% of Q-Park customers find a parking space within 5 minutes. And this ensures a reduction of CO2emission.

The opinion on who must bear the costs for parking in a city centre is clear: 61% say ‘the user should pay’.

About Q-Park

Q-Park is one of the three leading providers of parking facilities in Europe, whether wholly-owned, leased, managed or in a hybrid business model. Q-Park is notable for its quality approach and has a portfolio comprising over 800 000 parking spaces and office accommodation in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Great Britain, France, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland.

Altran Becomes a “Strategic Supplier” of PSA Peugeot Citroen

PR Newswire — January 31, 2012

PARIS, January 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ –

As part of the Performance Plan 2012, PSA Peugeot Citroen has selected the Altran Group as its strategic partner in the field of automobile product and process design.

This decision is part of the strategy adopted by PSA Peugeot Citroen and its partners to improve their operational efficiency, develop their international activity, accelerate innovation and ensure responsible development.

This status reasserts one of the major elements of the Altran Group’s strategic plan presented last October by Philippe Salle CEO: that of becoming the strategic partner of 20 key accounts.

At a time when the company is reducing its sub-contracting activities, the new “PSA Peugeot Citroen Strategic Partner” label ensures, for the companies selected, a greater visibility of their activity with the group which is necessary to pursue our investment plan in automobile innovation.

“It is greatly satisfying for us to accompany the PSA Peugeot Citroen group in a rapidly changing market where the concept of strategic supplier is of the utmost importance. PSA Peugeot Citroen has placed its trust in us as an industrial partner to offer excellence in collaborating on major critical projects through the work of our best engineers. This enables us to consolidate our position as a leader in performance and innovation, a strategic partner in the major global industries,” declares Cyril Roger, Executive Vice-President for France and Southern Europe.

The R&D Division is now relying on its strategic engineering partners to provide PSA Peugeot Citroen with complete engineering solutions which go far beyond the subcontracting arrangements of the past.

Britain’s ‘One Chance High Street’ – UK Consumers Vote With Their Feet if They Get Poor Service

PR Newswire — January 31, 2012

LONDON, January 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ –

- With photo

New research reveals that UK businesses only have one chance to get it right when it comes to customer service: six out of ten UK consumers (62 percent) say that if they receive bad service once, they will never buy from that company again.

The survey also highlights that the main drivers of service are getting the basics right, rather than adding special extra touches and flourishes. When consumers were asked what ‘good customer service’ actually means to them, the two most popular responses were helpful and responsive employees (chosen by 84 percent) and quickly sorting out the problem if something goes wrong (75 percent).

These are also the two factors most likely to annoy customers if they aren’t done right: 46 percent see rude and unfriendly staff as the most irritating thing about bad service, while a third (33 percent) say that a company that is slow to fix problems is the thing they dislike most.

The research was carried out among over 2,000 British adults by car hire company Enterprise Rent-A-Car [http://www.enterprise.co.uk ]. Enterprise has developed a strong customer service culture throughout its 55 years of operation, citing service as the most important aspect of business success and growth. The company measures customer satisfaction down to each individual branch through a monthly telephone survey of over 20,000 customers. This metric enables Enterprise to put customer service at the heart of decision-making including, for example, only those employees with customer service scores at or above the company average being eligible for promotion.

Mike Nigro, UK managing director at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, comments: “This research highlights the importance of high-quality, well-trained employees who deliver great service each and every time. It also shows that consumers are accepting when things don’t quite go as expected, but it’s how issues are handled that can define great service. This is perhaps even more vital in an era where social networks allow people to complain online in seconds.

“The British public are no longer tolerant of poor service and quite rightly will vote with their feet. Nowadays we have a ‘one chance high street’ – if you don’t provide great service from the very beginning, you won’t get a second opportunity.”

The research highlights this growing intolerance: 37 percent of consumers say they always complain when they receive bad service. And to exacerbate the problem, over a third (34 percent) actually think the service from UK retailers has got worse over the past ten years.

THE state government has caved in to criticism of its decision to ban regular unleaded petrol from July 1, a week after a cabinet leak revealed it had planned to proceed with the ban despite advice it would drive up petrol prices.

The Premier, Barry O’Farrell, announced last night that cabinet had agreed to dump the ban, under which regular unleaded was to be replaced by a 10 per cent
