Zolder: Cool Rims!

Posted by: robert  /  Category: Luxury Cars, Motoring, SUV

You want to make your old car even hotter but you don’t have enough cash right now? You know that replacing the body with a new one would cost an arm and a leg and so would upgrading your engine. Well, the wheel’s rims are a bit cheaper to buy and are a big hit with the crowds today, maybe you should look at it as a possible option. The next question would be: where do you look for quality, cool looking rims? If you’re at a loss then maybe you should check out TSW Alloy’s Zolder.

The Zolder wheel is a clean and bold multi-spoke that pushes the limit of one-piece style” says Terence Scheckter, President of TSW Alloy Wheels, “We’re excited about launching this new wheel in a range of great finishes.” The Zolder is available in a beautiful Gloss White with Mirror cut face and lip, Gloss Gold with Mirror Cut lip, and Gloss Black and Hyper Silver with Mirror cut lip.

The Zolder is one heck of a set of rims. Besides looking heavy on your SUV or car, it also provides comfort for you and the people riding with you.

Zolder wheels are available in an array of staggered sizes, 17×7, 17×8, 18×8, 18×9.5, 19×8, 19×9.5, 20×8.5, and 20×10. The wheel is made for four, and five lug passenger cars and small SUV’s. Both high and low offsets are available from 20 to 45mm. As with all TSW wheels; the Zolder is hub-centric. “Our hub centric wheels will ensure a smooth, vibration free ride,” says Terence Scheckter, President of TSW Alloy Wheels.

It may look heavy, but the company made sure that it’s as light as it could get to ensure it fits road and car standards. Hope to see you and your car going down the road with these on!

Envisioning Cars in 2030

Posted by: robert  /  Category: Car News, General Motors, Honda, Motoring, Nissan, Toyota, Volkswagen

What if you could look into the future–let’s say 2030? What type of cars will we be driving? Will it be a flying car or still a land based vehicle? This is what the Southern California Automotive Design Studios thought when they created a contest.

“Automotive designers have always been fascinated with the next generation of drivers and this year’s Design Challenge has provided them with the opportunity to use their creative talents to revisit the concept of ‘the car’ with new eyes, using the hottest technologies to both explore and fulfill the needs of young people,” said Chuck Pelly, director of Design Los Angeles and partner in The Design Academy, Inc.

The following have submitted their entries:

Volkswagen/Audi of America Design Center California: Audi eOra and eSpira

General Motors Advanced Design: Car Hero

Honda Research and Development, North America: Honda Helix

Mazda R & D of North America: Mazda Souga

Nissan Design America: V2G

Toyota’s Calty Design Research: Toyota LINK

I’m not sure but do these cars still run on gas? I hope they’ve taken into consideration not only the environmental effects but also the economical effects of being too dependent on gasoline and oil. The last thing we need are even more gas guzzling giant vehicles. Nevertheless, they look cool and I hope to see and ride them in my lifetime.

Entries will be judged by Tom Matano, Director of Industrial Design at San Francisco’s Academy of Art University; Imre Molner, Dean of Detroit’s College for Creative Studies; Stewart Reed, Chair, Transportation Design, Pasadena’s Art Center College of Design and Jason Hill, Principal of Eleven, LLC and Designer of the Aptera electric and plug-in hybrid/electric vehicle.

Venue: Emergency Multi-purpose Vehicle

Posted by: robert  /  Category: Car News, Eco-friendly Cars, Motoring, Motoring News

There’s been a lot of emergency situations lately: typhoons, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, earthquakes, flash floods, etc.–and all need some sort of shelter or operations base for rescue personnel to take care of the injured and homeless.

What they normally do is set up camps but since they are all made up of mostly tents, they tend to fly away when the winds get rough, thus exposing people to more danger. Now if there was some way to bring the safety and security of hospitals or a much more sturdier material than tents that people can leave near the disaster zone.

Now, there is! It’s called The Venue!

Ogden Gerard, LLC announced today the launch of its new multi-purpose specialty vehicle Venue™ http://www.venuevehicles.com, an enclosed trailer that converts automatically into up to 2,400 square feet of customizable, climate-controlled space for applications that include emergency response, disaster recovery, entertainment, business displays, emergency housing and light industrial.

Venue™ multi-purpose vehicle can be towed by a fifth wheel style pickup truck, and will serve a broad range of markets, said Eric Gerard, senior partner of Ogden Gerard, based in St. Petersburg, Florida. Buyers are reviewing Venue™ for use as: Hospitality and entertainment space; command and communications centers; emergency barracks; emergency housing, emergency shelters, disaster recovery; business continuity; other emergency response applications: mobile studios, and trade show exhibits.

Currently the US government is seriously taking a look at this vehicle to use in disaster or even military operations. As of the moment it’s currently a hit with the entertainment industry as this allows a home away from home for their multi million dollar stars.
